
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday participated in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress alongside his wife, Joke Sanwo-Olu, at Ward E3, Eiyekole, St. Stephen School, Adeniji Adele, on Lagos Island.
The governor joined other party faithful and residents in casting his vote for the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, during the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.
Sanwo-Olu described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and encouraging, noting that the large turnout of party members reflected the commitment of Lagosians to democratic participation and the continued progress of the state under the APC.
Speaking after casting his vote, the governor commended members of the party for conducting themselves in a calm and responsible manner throughout the process. He said the atmosphere at the polling venue demonstrated unity, discipline, and a shared determination to strengthen democratic values within the party.
According to him, the participation of party supporters across various wards is a positive sign for the future of the APC in Lagos State. He added that the primary election provided an opportunity for members to freely exercise their democratic rights while contributing to the process of selecting the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership capacity of Hamzat, stressing that continuity, stability, and collective commitment remain essential for sustaining the growth and development of Lagos.
The governor urged party members to remain united and focused as preparations continue toward the 2027 general elections.
