The Campaign for Dignity Governance (CDG) has commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his recent call on Nigerians to remain united in the face of security challenges confronting the nation, describing the appeal as timely, patriotic, and reflective of the spirit required to overcome national adversity.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Razaq Olokoba, the group noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s position comes at a critical period when the country requires unity, resilience, and collective determination to confront threats posed by criminal elements seeking to undermine peace and national stability.
According to the organization, insecurity remains one of the most significant challenges facing developing nations around the world, and Nigeria is not an exception. However, the group stressed that the country’s strength has always been its ability to rise above challenges through unity, courage, and collective action.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu demonstrated responsible leadership by encouraging Nigerians not to allow acts of violence and insecurity create division among citizens.
“At moments like this, leadership matters. Governor Sanwo-Olu has reminded Nigerians that our strength lies not in division but in unity. The enemies of peace seek to create fear and distrust, but Nigerians must remain united in defending the values that bind us together as one nation,” Olokoba said.
The group also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a courageous and visionary leader committed to restoring security and stability across the country.
According to CDG, President Tinubu inherited complex security challenges that have evolved over many years, but his administration has continued to strengthen the capacity of security agencies through improved coordination, strategic interventions, and operational support.
The organization further commended members of the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, police personnel, and other security operatives who continue to make sacrifices in defense of the country.
The group noted that many security personnel work under difficult conditions and deserve the appreciation and support of citizens.
“No nation can survive without men and women willing to put their lives on the line for the safety of others. We salute our security agencies and encourage them to remain steadfast in their patriotic duty,” the statement added.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance concluded by calling on Nigerians to reject divisive narratives, support security agencies with useful information, and remain committed to building a peaceful and united nation.
