Today, I commissioned the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Pen Cinema, Agege, a modern facility designed to improve the movement of food from farmers and suppliers to communities across Lagos.
Built on 7,000 square metres, the hub provides a more organised and efficient environment for food distribution, with space for hundreds of traders, dry and cold storage facilities, a dedicated seafood section, parking areas and EV charging points.
More importantly, the facility brings farmers, traders, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers together within a more coordinated food distribution system. This will help reduce inefficiencies, improve access to fresh food and support the livelihoods of those operating across the agricultural value chain.
The Agege hub is one of the middle-level hubs within our wider food distribution network. It is supplied by the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun and works alongside other facilities, including the hub in Mushin, to bring food distribution closer to communities.
Our goal is clear: to strengthen food security, improve the efficiency of our food supply chain and make fresh and affordable food more accessible to Lagosians.
By investing in modern infrastructure and connecting producers directly with markets, we are building a stronger and more resilient food system for our State.
The Lagos Fresh Food Hub is another important step in our commitment to ensuring that Lagos remains a place where farmers, traders, businesses and consumers can thrive.
Together, we are building a more organised, efficient and sustainable food distribution network that will serve Lagos today and in the years ahead.
