Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Lagos as Africa’s foremost technology and innovation hub through stronger collaboration with global technology stakeholders.
The governor made this known after meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Kaoun International, Ms. Trixie LohMirmand, at Lagos House, Marina. Kaoun International is the organiser of GITEX, one of the world’s leading technology and startup events.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to deepen their existing partnership to accelerate innovation, attract investment and create more opportunities for startups and young entrepreneurs across Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said the collaboration with GITEX aligns with the state’s vision of building a thriving digital economy that promotes innovation, supports technology-driven businesses and enhances economic growth. He noted that Lagos remains committed to creating an enabling environment where startups can flourish while attracting local and international investors to the state’s rapidly expanding technology ecosystem.
According to the governor, strategic partnerships with global organisations such as GITEX are critical to unlocking the immense potential of Lagos’ youthful population by expanding access to innovation, digital skills and employment opportunities.
He stressed that the state government would continue to implement policies and initiatives that encourage technological advancement and strengthen Lagos’ position as the preferred destination for innovation and digital enterprise in Africa.
Sanwo-Olu added that building an inclusive digital economy remains a priority for his administration, emphasising that collaborations with international technology partners will help drive sustainable development and ensure that the benefits of digital transformation reach businesses, entrepreneurs and residents across the state.
The governor expressed confidence that the renewed partnership with GITEX would further reinforce Lagos’ reputation as a leading centre for technology, innovation and investment on the African continent.
