Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled Sanwo-Olu Against All Odds: A Photo Story of Resilience in the Face of Adversity, a photographic book chronicling his administration’s journey through some of the state’s most defining moments.
The book, authored by the governor’s official photographer, Ademola Olaniran, captures key events and challenges faced by the Lagos State Government, presenting a visual account of governance through powerful images taken in real time.
Speaking during the unveiling, Sanwo-Olu described the publication as a unique documentation of leadership, noting that while many leaders have their stories told years after leaving office, the book offers an authentic record of events as they unfolded.
According to the governor, Olaniran’s photographs go beyond official engagements and headlines, portraying the resilience, determination and hope of Lagosians in the face of adversity. He said the images reflect the collective spirit of residents who continue to push forward despite difficult circumstances.
Sanwo-Olu recalled that the book documents some of the state’s most challenging periods, including the COVID-19 pandemic, urban disasters, youth unrest and the government’s efforts to restore public confidence while sustaining critical infrastructure development.
The governor noted that the publication also serves as a reminder that leadership is built on continuity, with every administration strengthening the foundation laid by its predecessors while preparing the path for future generations.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the governor’s wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, fellow governors, political leaders and other distinguished guests.
Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the unveiling and commended Olaniran for preserving the history of his administration through photography. He also dedicated the book to Lagos residents, saying their courage, resilience and unwavering belief in a better future remain the true story behind the images captured in the publication.
