Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged graduating students of Babcock University to embrace integrity, continuous learning, and purposeful leadership as they prepare to make meaningful contributions to society.
The governor gave the charge on Saturday while delivering the Convocation Lecture at the university’s 2026 Convocation Ceremony held at its main campus in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
Addressing the graduating class, Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in the abilities of the young graduates, describing them as the nation’s future leaders with the potential to drive positive change across various sectors.
He encouraged the graduates to remain curious, cultivate a strong work ethic, and pursue lifelong learning, stressing that these qualities would help them navigate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
According to the governor, success is built not only on academic achievements but also on the values of honesty, discipline, resilience, and integrity, which should serve as guiding principles throughout their personal and professional lives.
Sanwo-Olu noted that interacting with the graduating students strengthened his belief that Nigeria’s future is bright, as the country is blessed with talented and determined young people ready to make an impact.
“I encouraged them to stay curious, work with integrity, embrace lifelong learning and never lose sight of the values that will guide them through every stage of life,” the governor said.
He also commended the management of Babcock University for its commitment to academic excellence and character development, thanking the institution for the warm reception extended to him during the convocation ceremony.
Sanwo-Olu congratulated the graduating students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journey and wished them success as they embark on the next phase of their lives. He expressed optimism that they would become worthy ambassadors of the university and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s growth and development.
