Lagos State has taken another major step toward hosting the prestigious 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, as officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission welcomed a CAF inspection team to the state for a comprehensive assessment of the proposed event venue and facilities.
The inspection visit formed part of CAF’s preparations to ensure that all requirements are met ahead of the continent’s biggest football awards ceremony. During the tour, officials from the Lagos State Sports Commission guided the delegation through the venue, showcasing key facilities and infrastructure while receiving valuable feedback from the visiting team.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the state is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations, stressing that hosting an event of such international significance demands careful planning and attention to every detail.
According to the governor, behind-the-scenes efforts are already in full swing to ensure the event meets the highest global standards. He noted that the inspection exercise provided an opportunity to evaluate the state’s level of readiness and identify areas requiring further improvements before the awards.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed Lagos’ commitment to delivering a memorable and world-class event that reflects the state’s reputation as Africa’s leading destination for major sporting, entertainment and cultural events.
