
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has held discussions with the United States Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump for Africa and Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, Mr. Massad Boulos, on opportunities to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen investment partnerships between Nigeria and the United States.
The meeting, held in Washington, D.C., focused on identifying practical areas of collaboration that could support Lagos State’s economic development and create new opportunities for residents.
Sanwo-Olu said the engagement provided an opportunity to explore ways of attracting additional investments into Lagos while strengthening technology partnerships that could contribute to the State’s continued transformation.
According to the Governor, stronger Nigeria-US relations have the potential to open new avenues for economic cooperation, particularly in areas capable of supporting job creation, innovation and sustainable development.
He emphasised the importance of building relationships that extend beyond discussions and result in practical opportunities capable of delivering measurable benefits to the people.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos remains committed to working with international partners, investors and technology leaders to develop solutions that address the needs of its growing population and strengthen the State’s position as a leading economic hub in Africa.
The Governor also stressed the need for sustained engagement between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in areas of mutual economic interest.
He said Lagos would continue to pursue partnerships that can attract capital, encourage innovation, strengthen businesses and improve the quality of life of residents.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to position Lagos as an attractive destination for global investment, noting that strategic international relationships remain essential to achieving sustainable economic growth.
He added that his administration would continue to seek opportunities to build meaningful partnerships wherever they exist, with the ultimate objective of creating pathways to prosperity and improving the lives of Lagosians.
The Governor expressed optimism that continued engagements with US officials, investors and business leaders would further strengthen cooperation and unlock new opportunities for Lagos and Nigeria.
