Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigerian Law School, with particular emphasis on strengthening the institution’s Lagos Campus and preserving its historical assets.
The governor gave this assurance while receiving the newly appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Mrs. Olugbemisola Odusote, who paid him a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina, accompanied by members of the school’s senior management team. Mrs. Odusote is the first woman to be appointed Director-General of the prestigious institution.
During the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated Mrs. Odusote on her historic appointment, describing it as a significant milestone for the Nigerian legal education system. He praised her distinguished career and expressed confidence in her capacity to further strengthen the Law School’s role in shaping disciplined, ethical, and highly skilled legal practitioners for the country.
The governor emphasized the strategic importance of the Nigerian Law School to Lagos State and Nigeria at large, noting that the Lagos Campus occupies a historic property that reflects the rich legal and educational heritage of the state. He pledged that the Lagos State Government would take necessary steps to secure and protect the property, while also exploring ways to support the institution through infrastructure development and policy collaboration.
Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s belief in strong partnerships with federal institutions, particularly those that contribute to human capital development and professional excellence. He assured the delegation of Lagos State’s readiness to continue working closely with the Nigerian Law School to address challenges and enhance the learning environment for students and staff.
In her remarks, Mrs. Odusote expressed appreciation to the governor for the warm reception and the state government’s continued support. She highlighted the importance of cooperation with Lagos State in achieving the Law School’s mandate and advancing legal education in Nigeria.
