Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday joined family members, political leaders and close associates to commemorate the first anniversary remembrance of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
The remembrance programme, which featured prayers and supplications, provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the late former president’s years of dedicated service to Nigeria and to offer prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the gathering as a solemn moment of reflection, noting that Buhari’s contributions to the country’s development and his commitment to public service remain significant in Nigeria’s history.
According to the governor, the event also served as a reminder of the values of patriotism, discipline and dedication that Buhari sought to uphold throughout his years in public office.
Prayers were offered for the late president, with participants asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus and continue to comfort his family and loved ones.
Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians to honour Buhari’s memory by embracing the ideals of national unity, selfless leadership and service to humanity. He noted that the former president’s legacy should inspire present and future generations to work towards a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
In a message shared after the event, the governor said it was a privilege to join other distinguished Nigerians in paying tribute to the late statesman.
“Today, I joined family members, other leaders and associates at the First Year Remembrance, Prayers and Supplications held in honour of our former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
